In today’s world, everything is changing rapidly, so people often want even more changes. If I could change one important thing about my hometown, Kathmandu, Nepal, I would make the government’s laws and policies stronger by upgrading its education system, its law enforcement agencies, and enhancing leadership qualities so that Kathmandu, Nepal, can make an impact internationally.
First, higher education is today’s tool that needs to be mandatory for the people of Kathmandu. Education gives people the abilities to match today’s globalized job market. People who have migrated to Kathmandu from other cities are usually not educated beyond the 7th grade, so it needs to be a requirement that they be educated to at least a high school degree. There should be educated people so that other thing can be developed easily. Having not changed the school system for more than 50 years, they are not producing capable students who can compete in today’s global world. Kathmandu needs to change the way it thinks about learning. They should spend additional time providing new, innovative education, which would give them more abilities to help my vision to change the city.
Furthermore, another mandatory step that government should apply is strengthening law enforcement so that people are more disciplined. A law-abiding society gives people the freedom to focus on other issues that would better the city. Most people migrated in town from other city are not adequately educated about Kathmandu’s laws. It is important to make people familiar with the instructions about law and order; let them have orientations about how to apply law and order in their daily lives. I would like to work with the Nepalese government to solve this issue.
Finally, leadership qualities need to be changed immensely in the city. In my opinion, leaders have no significant qualities because they grew up with the old education system. They never can provide a plausible work until they get higher quality leadership. In today’s changing world, leadership qualities need to be upgraded. This can be done by teaching current leaders: interpersonal skills such as communicating effectively, facilitating groups and managing others, influencing by leading by example, and decision-making using analytical and strategic skills.
In conclusion, there are three ways that I can change my hometown, Kathmandu, Nepal. One way is to make people be educated to at least a high school degree. A second way is to establish strong law enforcement agencies and get people educated about the laws of Kathmandu, and a final way is to upgrade leadership qualities by offering political and technological education to current leaders. Making these changes to my hometown is my dream project because I want to be an exemplary person and to inspire other nation’s cities so that all people can have the same quality of life that those in Kathmandu do.
