How to Improve Study Skills
Why is it so hard to concentrate while studying, or even to study effectively? Concentration is a very hard part of studying, but surely there are many possible ways to improve with a better understanding of effective memorization skills, Such as notes taking, effectively reviewing, memorizing, and textbook reading. However, there are so many people having trouble taking notes due to not taking proper methods. Taking breaks while studying, not studying while tired, and making habits one hour study skills that people may apply as they need. Although there are so many different methods for effective study skills; however, three are the most proven effective methods: concentration, memorization, and note taking skills.
           First, Concentration: concentration means to get myself into a quiet place, to stay in place without slouching over and to start reading at a steady pace. This will help me not to forget. Many people have a difficult time keeping up with their studies because they are uncomfortable and have a lack of concentration. It’s even harder to concentrate for the people who are getting older. They may lose their memory power, but youngsters can have more concentration on their study. Everyone is different concentrating, and being motivated to learn comes naturally.
Second, Memorization: a lot of people cannot memorize what they’ve just read on a daily basis. After fifteen minutes, they forget everything. Practice and writing by hand can improve memorization. Using my own words while writing is the best way, and it will help me tremendously with memorization. It is also recommended to think, after reading for a while which can help me to a get better understanding of what I’ve read. It will surely help me in memorization as well.
Finally, Note-taking skills: I have a form of shorthand so it takes less time to write notes down. It is always great to write notes by asking questions, and even better by adding bullets and numbers. Practicing effective note taking techniques allows me to study more efficiently and retain what I’ve learned from reading books. Another great strategy is to get more engaged when reading: the more engaged, the more I would remember what I read.
When studying; being lazy to study, getting headache, and not even remembering anything were my biggest problems. I could not apply any good knowledge and ideas in my life. I had no ideas how to solve problems. I always wanted to get engaged with my reading but never could. One day, one of my colleagues advised me to research improving study skills. I started researching using Google. Immediately Google provided me a barrage of relevant information, and the most of them was very useful contents. I picked a proven method, and I have been following, and applying the techniques since then. Learning better study skills techniques surely helped me. Now I’m able to manage time and place to study, and have lots of benefits from studying. I have a strong hope that these techniques will help me to pursue a degree in IT.
